A beautiful image Chris, it’s so peaceful on the canal and I love the reflections on the water. Do you have any images from the Kagerplassen, Kagereiland or the beautiful canal by Warmond you’d like to share? Special bonus points for you if you do! 😉

Hi, if you go East in this canal and turn left on the Leede you are in Warmond! So a kilometer away. I have to look up if I have pictures from de Kaag. I let u know!

I really appreciate it Chris as I have no photographs of those early childhood expeditions 🙂

What I can do: tell me the places and I put them in frames for you. It is a lil trouble and close to home and a diversion !

That’s very kind of you. The scene in your post ‘Polder View’ looks very familiar and the scenes in your posts ‘Sailing’ and ‘Sailing the Clouds Home’ remind me of our days on the water. I can’t remember any of the names of the places other than Warmond, where there was an underwater threshold to prevent boats with a deep keel from entering. The water ran behind the gardens of some lovely houses and then it opened up to farm land where lightning had split a huge old chestnut tree in two. I don’t know if this helps! 🙂

I think you describe The Leede. That is the water running through Warmond from leiden to the Kaag. Do you remember a railway bridge crossing it?

Thank you Chris, this could be the water. We always entered it from the Kaag and there was a railway bridge further downstream. We moored by the farmland near the side of the Kagerplassen and I paddled a bit further down by myself. It was beautiful and very peaceful.
