Intentional Creative Movement – Light
This week’s Lens Artitsts Photo Challenge (#321) is Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). Yesterday I published photos shot analogue on film: the result is only visible after developing the film. This one is from 2004 with my first digital Nikon D70. The fun of digital is that you can actually see on the back what the result is, and use this feedback to try again. Digital gives freedom and is cheap and gives instant feedback. 20 years of digital playing.
shot with Nikon D70, edited using Snapseed and Marksta. Click the picture for a larger version.

This is great! But what is it? I thought smoke rings at first, but I know that is incorrect. From 2004…wow. Fantastic.

I was sitting down at dusk and wanted to shoot the autumnal sunset. Then the idea of longer shutter time came in my head and I just pulled light lines by moving the camera in small circles eventually. After zoom in etc. This cam out, the orange are street lights. I did a turn, covered the lens with my hand, did another etc.

The best of both worlds are very satisfying. Being creative in both has been a joy for me and in the age of digital has more to explore with the equipment. I very much enjoy the ICM part of the camera’s eye. Nice.

Streetlights, with a camera making slow turns, cover the lens and repeat a few times
