April was wet, and that’s probably why the garden is bursting in flowers and growth.

Living in a land flat as a pancake, makes one used to see a low horizon and lots of sky. Hence we do not pay too much attention to it probably, if it’s blue it’s fine, if it’s grey there is a lot of grey. The only exception are sunrises and sunsets. They can be majestic.

A bit of a ‘a bit of this, a bit of that on a junk pile shot’. Molen De Valk in Leiden, the entrance of an underground parking, a lamplight and a building crane. Still there is some magic in it.

Over the years I collected photos of photographers shooting their photos and nowadays, videos. Here are a few.

The weekly lens artists challenge #242 is ‘new experiences’. A month ago we had a partial public space power cut, the streetlights of a part of the neigbourhood were off for an hour and the moon showed its grace beautifully. Power inside the houses was still there. Power cuts are fortunately rare, and this one was quite a nice experience! This is a bicycle coming by.

The Netherlands, Katwijk – February 2023
Sometimes the color and mono have a fight. Two totally different tones and feelings to the same photo. And an answer to the question I phrased in the previous two posts.
This week’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge 240 is hosted by John Steiner. He invites to show my favorite type or style of photography as the road I have chosen to take most often. And – I was not really honest when I wrote this – that creates a bit of a problem for me. I might need direction.
Basically my attention gets caught and produces an image. It is not conscious, it is in the context where I am. And it results in an array of subjects. It is easier to say what road I do not take: fashion, portraits, urban. But travel, cities, landscapes etc are part of the portfolio.
I asked visitors feedback, and I am happy that those who took time to answer (thank you!) confirmed my own view on ‘my work’. Describing it as ‘random variety’ ‘context orientated’; I am in the place I should be (and I feel comfortable in). And it is a true pleasure to receive these kind phrased comments. So: I keep doing what I do, snap in context, it is fun!

Or I shouldn’t?
I think I have to ask the visitors of this blog to give an answer to John’s question, for I can’t for myself. What do you think? Is there a red line in my snaps? Or is it a mixed bag of pieces? I appreciate your feedback.

England, London and Norfolk – December 2022
For the first time after the pandemic we were able to spend time at the end of the year in England. This time we welcomed the New Year at the coast of Norfolk. This set of snaps shows the road from Surrey to Norfolk, passing the Dartford Tunnel into Essex and Norfolk.

At the end of the year it is time to reflect on the passed year and imagine what the new year may, or should, bring. Whatever that is, I wish you hapiness, luck, love, health and courage to take bold steps.
