Rembrandt van Rijn

The Netherlands, Leiden – September 2018

This is the area where Rembrandt van Rijn was born in 1606. His father was a miller, and the mill on the left is a replica of a mill he worked.  His birthplace was off to the right of this photo. Unfortunately the Leiden council decided to demolish the house he was born in around 1920. What remains is a plaque on a modern apartment building. Luckily, we still can enjoy his paintings.
