Germany, Berlin – September 2025

Brandenburger Gate (Brandenburger Tor) in Berlin was an iconic point at the time of the Berlin Wall (Berliner Mauer). The gate then stood in no mans land, and showed the alienating effects of division through the city. Now the Brandenburger Gate is a symbol of unity of Berlin. It was a pleasure to walk through the gates, and enjoy the people and streets around it. And the see the gate back at its splendor.

The monochrome set of 1989 was shot with Nikon F301 on Kodak TriX. The colorfilm was Fuji, and shot on Pentax Espio 115M. 2025 photos shot with iPhone 15 Pro Max edited using Snapseed and Marksta. Click the pictures for a larger version.

From the archive: Izmir 1986

Turkey, Izmir – October 1986

This week’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge (#164) is ‘Looking Up/Looking Down’.

Again one from the archives. This is an original color film, turned into monochrome. I can not remember what camera I used for it, it must have been a simple point and shooter. The bland color photo turned into a lively pattern of monochrome tints. This is a part of Izmir, near the old Kadifekale, a hillcastle on Mount Pagos.

Tarn Point Sublime Right

France, St. Rome de Dolan – Point Sublime – August 1992

The theme for Lens-artists Weekly Photo Challenge #158 is ‘Along back country roads’.

The gorge of the river Tarn in France, looking right from the Point Sublime (if you turn this around you have the English translation). This view point shows the Tarn in a splendid panoramic view. This is the right side, yesterday I published the left. This area of France is the lowest populated part of France. Small roads, beautiful nature, nature.

The theme for Lens-artists Weekly Photo Challenge #158 is ‘Along back country roads’.

Vercors 1990

France, Vercors – August 1990

The theme for Lens-artists Weekly Photo Challenge #115 is ‘Inspiration’.

Coming from a land that is flat as a pancake, mountains and hills are a source of inspiration, reflection and sport. Climbing a mountain by bicycle is a wonderful experience, offering lots of insights about who and what you are. This one was shot with Pentax Mju on Fuji Film.

The theme for Lens-artists Weekly Photo Challenge #113 is ‘A labor of love’.

Ephesus is a beautiful excavation near Selçuk in the west of Turkey. The library of Celsus is an amazing piece of architecture and art.

Looking back in the archive for another challenge, I dug up some old images. This is Turkey, 1987. It must be Fuji film, and probably Nikon F301 with a long lens, but I am not sure.
