England, London and Norfolk – December 2022
For the first time after the pandemic we were able to spend time at the end of the year in England. This time we welcomed the New Year at the coast of Norfolk. This set of snaps shows the road from Surrey to Norfolk, passing the Dartford Tunnel into Essex and Norfolk.

This weeks challenge #187 is ‘water’. The Galgenwater in Leiden. In the background a replica a of the mill that was used by the father of Rembrandt van Rijn, who was born to the left of the bridge in the distance in 1606, 410 years before this photo.

This weeks challenge #185 is ‘change’. Kodari on the border of Tibet and Nepal. Change means you have to cross bridges, but before you can do that, you have to create a bridge first.
About the B4 retouch series:
I browsed my archive for pictures to publish. Some of them are partly retouched but most do have scratches, dust and stains.

Pont de Normandie is a beautiful bridge over the river Seine between Le Havre and Honfleur. It towers over you as you approach it. The first time I passed it I was in admiration and also in awe.
This week’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge #181 is double dipping: send in a photo that is related to another creative challenge on WordPress. This photo is a response to the monthly Thursday special of Lost in Translation. A beautiful blog with great creative photography. Each month one can enter photo’s portraying words: in December 2021 Introspective, Anticipating, Befriending, Choices, Wish.
This photo describes anticipation and choices. If you choose to cross a bridge like this, what will it be like?

The theme for this week Lens-artists challenge #153 is ‘Wonderful World’.
Delft, like other cities in the West of The Netherlands, has an extended canal system, that was used in the past for transport. Lots of little bridges connect the city streets.

The theme for the weekly Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #95 is ‘All Wet’.
You might think seeing this photo ‘this is not all wet, is it?’ And indeed it is not. Some say God created the world and The Dutch created The Netherlands. The first is a question of belief and the latter is a question of opinion. The fact is that a big part of the low lands (Netherlands) are under sea level. This canal is one of the waterworks that manages to keep Dutch feet dry. This canal is taking water from ‘polders’ back to the sea. If we could not manage water this way you would be looking at the sea, with the building on the left just above the sea level. So it is not all wet, it is managed wet and we prefer it that way.
