It certainly stirred emotions when we visited, especially as my father-in-law landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Fortunately he survived, but so many didn’t. When you go there, you have to wonder that so many did!

Hi Janet, I feel grateful for what they sacrificed, and what they gave me: to live in freedom. It is immense to see how many young men did. And when it is so close in your family, it is even more impressive.

I love this close-up perspective, Chris. Interesting. We selected the same place but with very different perspectives!

hi Patti, Margraten in the south of The Netherlands was the first cemetery I visited. Colleville in Normandy I have seen three times. I still am finding a way to view those lines of crosses. And each time I see different angles or details. Looking and framing is fortunately subjective, and that way we get different shots that gives me ideas again. The David stars pop out at Colleville; I do like your photo of it.

It is tricky to capture the lines and lines of crosses and stars of David. It was challenging. Each time you go back to Colleville, you’ll see a new angle or another potential way to capture it–I’m sure.

We nearly ran into each other, we have a house nearby in Ouistreham https://antimuseum.com/en/2021/01/08/a-glimpse-of-hope/

I still have to visit Ouistreham, I believe that is where Pegasus bridge was/is?

Not quite. Sword beach rather. Riva Bella that is. A mere km away from Colleville
