The garden comes back to green and colors. This tree was a new addition and looked quite poorly but is recovering day by day.

This week’s theme #390 is ‘color in black and white’. The theme focuses on the cognitive fact that our brains still know a color, even if it is in a grey tone. So the sky is blue, the grass green etc. Here you can see what colors do in greys, and if that is appealing or not to your taste pallet. For me this challenge is a bit of fun: most of the time I am looking at the world translating colors straight into grey tones, seeing if a photo is working in monochrome or not. Thanks Egidio for this challenge.
If you visit my blog – like I hope you do or from now start to do – you must have recognized my ‘old’ love for monochrome. When I started this hobby, mono was fashionable and a standard for news photography. And it was cheaper. In this series I offer you two versions of a photo. And you can prefer one over the other, or not.

Summer mornings can sometimes welcome you into a warm, joyful and laid back day. This is one of those days filled with ease. The sun also rises, each day, at more or less the same place. And when you catch it early, it is photographer’s gold.

This year I followed the flowering of the magnolia tree in our front garden. The mono photos are taken with Nikon Zf, the colors come from the iPhone.

At this time of Spring the bulbfields deliver their richness and beauty in rows of flowers, stretching over the land like post stamps. Living in this area of The Netherlands for a long time, this is quite a ‘normal’ event. I try to remember the first time I saw it as a child, being amazed by the perfume and splendour of the fields, just to keep me appreciating it as it should.

This week lens artists photo challenge is ‘that special place‘. The empty branches of a tree in Winter. During this pandemic I realized that the immediate outside of my house is an inspiration for photos. During the seasons and days it is always nice to look out and sometimes catch a nice view. Looking back over the years I realize that I have always been intrigued by little details near the places where I lived. Making these places special in a certain way.

The Autumn was short this year. High temperatures were pleasant, but the amazing colors on leaves that are normal for this time of year, were not present. And when the weather changed the leaves came off the trees very fast. Luckily the sunsets are always there.
