One of the biggest inspirations is nature and flowers. In times of Covid19 the back garden is a place to be.

The theme for this week Lens-artists challenge #156 is ‘black and white’.
I am happy I am old enough to have worked with film and negatives. I still shoot black and white digital, but film is something different.
About the B4 retouch series:
I browsed my archive for pictures to publish. Some of them are partly retouched but most do have scratches, dust and stains.

The theme for this week Lens-artists challenge #154 is ‘one photo two ways’. These clouds I shot at dusk. I was curieus what the iPhone would do in low light. These are four shots of the sky. They vary on zoom/frame and one I adjusted the light measuring. So two times two.

Delft, like other cities in the West of The Netherlands, has an extended canal system, that was used in the past for transport. Lots of little bridges connect the city streets.

The theme for his week Lens-artists challenge #152 is ‘Shadows and Shades’. Delft was the first city I visited since we went into the pandemic. It is a beautiful old town, famous for pottery (Delft’s Blauw/Delft Blue), the painter Johannes Vermeer and the fact that here William of Orange was murdered. The light was stunning on this warm and sunny day, it reminded me of the South of France.

The theme for his week Lens-artists challenge #150 is ‘Let’s go wild’.
The Netherlands does not really have original wild parts where nature still rules; we do have nature, but nature is being managed. We manage and maintain our dense populated country all over, to achieve efficiency (the post stamp like farm fields, outlined by straight canals from the sky, a view tourists seem to enjoy approaching Schiphol Airport etc) or benefits of scale and standardization. But not all can be controlled. One thing we have to adjust to and have no control over is the weather and the effects of climate change. Spring was very wet and had heavy showers. We can manage the extra water and rising sea levels, but the intensity of the rain is a more and more a given.
