Lens Artists Photo Challenge #204 for this week is ‘doors and doorways’. An old photo of the opening of parliament in The Netherlands, the third Tuesday of September.
About the B4 retouch series:
I browsed my archive for pictures to publish. Some of them are partly retouched but most do have scratches, dust and stains.

Lens Artists Weekly Challenge #202 is ‘Minimalism/Maximilism‘. I think this would categorize in maximalism. But I might be wrong.

The Lens-artists challenge #197 is ‘rule of thirds’. The rule of thirds is a rule of thumb how to compose images. But a photo that creates a journey of the eye can also be made by using lines and colors. This is the view from Den Haag Central Station to Scheveningen.

This weeks challenge #185 is ‘change’. The only thing in life we know for sure is that we die. But another certainty is that change will always be around, in lots of shapes and forms. Either self chosen, or adapting to a new situation someone decided for us. One tool used a lot in sessions about change is a post it, mostly used to ask feedback or input on any subject, eg workprocesses.

The weekly theme for lens artists weekly photo challenge (in short LAPC) #127 is ‘precious moments’.
A memory can be triggered by here and now. Last weekend I visited Den Haag physically for the first time after the lock down started in March. It was exciting and at the same time sad to see the city and the familiar landmarks. ‘Normally’ at this time of year, the center is crowded with people doing Christmas shopping, but now it is (depending on the hour of the day) more or less quiet. At times it is however too busy. The apparent human need to cluster closely together (in shops, or at home) is probably a reason why we see a rise in cases again. Tonight a more strict lock down will be announced. To curb the second wave. Department stores like the 150 year old Bijenkorf and other ‘unnecessary’ shops will close again. That hurts them enormously. But luckily there is light at the end of this tunnel. I hope the light of Christmas will soon turn into a bright sun that opens up our now small worlds and gives us the space and opportunities to be more human again. Till then: courage.

After another week of tropical heat it seems that global warming aka climate change is not as fake as some president of the USA believes. And the only variable that has disrupted nature since ages is mankind. It seems time to make up our minds.
A few lines of Genesis – Watcher of the skies came into my mind.
Creatures shaped this planet’s soil
Now their reign has come to end
Has life again destroyed life?
Do they play elsewhere, do they know
More than their childhood games?
Maybe the lizard’s shed its tail
This is the end of man’s long union with Earth
It is all up to us.
