June was a warm month with beautiful sunder skies. Hoping August will bring some more than grey clouds.

This week LAPC #260 is ‘overlooked’. Again one from the archives, the then small town of Fira, on the island Thira aka Santorini, built on the edge of a former caldera. The old harbor is deep down, and 600 steps lead you up to the town balancing on the edge of the caldera. Donkeys are used for comfort against payment. Since 1979 tourism boomed extremely on this beautiful island. I feel fortunate to have visited it before that tourist flood. But each time I see photos of this place I long to go back. The beaches are perfect: volcanic ashes that does not stick like sand.
About the B4 retouch series:
I browsed my archive for pictures to publish. Some of them are partly retouched but most do have scratches, dust and stains.
The picture was originally shot with Pentax K1000 on Kodak Plusx, scanned from negative and tweaked using Snapseed and Marksta. Click the picture for a larger version.

June was a beautiful month full of sun and warmth. July was less, let’s hope August has some more blue skies for us. This week LAPC #259 is ‘unbound’.

The Netherlands, Langbroek – July 2023
Kasteel Sandenburg in Langbroek. An old estate in the center of The Netherlands. Lovingly nicknamed the sugar cake. I wonder why.

If the soil is not being cleaned by flooding or gassed by covering it in plastic, the fields that are covered in Daffodils, Hyacinths or Tulips in Spring, in Summer are growing cut flowers for sales.

This week LAPC #254 is ‘spiritual places’; I use an old photo that I also published in October 2021 of a little chapel in Naxos that could do with some tender loving care for lens artistists challenge #168: seen better days. I edited it with a lighter atmosphere and took out the most obvious dust and scratches this time, so if you want to compare, here is that post.

This week lens artists challenge #214 is ‘favourite finds’. A typical Dutch landscape on a warm day, with boats coming and going to the lakes. The find was the little ferry we used to cross this water, the river Zijl near Leiden.
