Walk A Line! Focus!

Belgium, Gistel-Zevekote – August 2019

This is the first time I post an entry in a theme of Frank’s Jansen Dutch goes the photo: Focus!
The photo is from a trip to Calais France, and shows the flat lands of Flanders on the coast of the Channel.
Each time of year these fields look different; in Summer they look bright and light, in Winter they can be grey and dark.
We make this trip a few times each year, and each time it reminds me of Jacques Brel’s chanson ‘mijn vlakke land’.
(The link to my 2014 post is not working any more, I cleaned up my blog a few months ago.
You can find the English and Dutch lyrics here.

Seaside old glory

The Netherlands, Scheveningen – July 2019

The theme for Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #56  is Seashores and/or Lakeshores. Scheveningen used to be a small fishing village but now is part of Den Haag.
The Kurhaus is the only remaining old building. In the sixties everything except the Kurhaus was demolished and replaced by modern type buildings. Killing the sight and sphere of the coastline.

Watcher of the Skies

The Netherlands, The Hague – July 2019

After another week of tropical heat it seems that global warming aka climate change is not as fake as some president of the USA believes. And the only variable that has disrupted nature since ages is mankind. It seems time to make up our minds.

A few lines of Genesis – Watcher of the skies came into my mind.

Creatures shaped this planet’s soil
Now their reign has come to end
Has life again destroyed life?
Do they play elsewhere, do they know
More than their childhood games?
Maybe the lizard’s shed its tail
This is the end of man’s long union with Earth

It is all up to us.
